James B. Johnson

Gleason, Tennessee: Funeral services for James B. (J B) Johnson, assistant
cashier of the Bank of Gleason, were held Thursday March
28 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist
Church in Gleason with Bro. Hilliard Goode and Bro. E. Farris officiating. Burial was in
Hopewell Cemetery. Maddox and Co. directed the arrangements. Mr. Johnson died
at 5 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, in the presence of family and friends, at his home in Gleason,
from an illness of four months. He underwent surgery in a Memphis hospital
before Christmas. He was a valued employee of the Bank of Gleason, a
member of the Gleason First Baptist Church and Gleason Masonic Lodge, and a
veteran of World War II. At the
time of his death he was Commander of the Gleason American Legion post.
Mr. Johnson was
preceded in death by his father, Harmon C. Johnson of Gleason. He leaves
his wife, Mrs. Sally Ossmer Johnson; three sons, James Harmon (Jimmy) Johnson
age 14, John David Johnson age 7,
and Gary Thomas Johnson age 6; his mother, Mrs. Irene Stallcup Johnson of Gleason;
two brothers, John Lee Johnson of Gleason and Henry Bryant Johnson of Chicago,
Illinois. Pallbearers were J. D. Dillion, Joe
B. Rives, G. W. Gibbs, Jr., J. E. Bell, Bob Owen, and William Parks.
